Why?

As the monetary incentive to maintain a strong presence on the Internet grows, the amount of time and effort put into optimizing websites for success does as well. Ideas about how best to structure a site for maximum engagement and efficiency have become more concrete. That is not to say that there is some ultimate consensus on how to perfectly optimize the web, but it has led to much of internet feeling "sanitized."

What I mean by that is in addition to the absence of superfluous garbage, the charming efforts of people with absolutely no idea what what they are doing are no longer the norm. I will not deny that I appreciate modern advancements in both design and technology, but I cannot help but feel like something has been lost, even if that feeling is completely irrational.

Soon after I started thinking about all this I realized that I am someone who has no experience with any sort of web development so I might as well make my own dumb website instead of whining about how the calculated nature of the modern web has eroded much of what once made it so special. I don't know exactly what I want Extremely Corporate to be, but I don't have the authority to make that decision.

I don't expect anyone I don't know personally to read this at the time of writing, so if you just found this site for whatever reason you should know that my expectations have been greatly exceeded. I really do hope you stick around.
