A typical printer

Printers are evil magic artifacts most likely set loose on earth by Satan himself.

Generate PPD for CUPS over IPP

If your printer supports IPP, it will most likely spit out a ppd file over the network upon request. You can get this file with the following command.

driverless -d cat "ipp://printer IP/" > ppd

You can then add the printer to a CUPS server and configure it to use the created ppd file.

(If your printer doesn't support IPP, you must pray that a free driver for it is packaged lest you be forced to install bizarre and arcane vendor provided drivers)
