Installation Man

As Linux and end-user Linux software drift slowly towards the torrent of the mainstream, so too do they become plagued by the ills of modern content creation trends. From this perfect miasmic storm, a new breed of influencer was born: The Installation Man.

What They Do

Installation Men will install software and then talk about it. That's generally the depth to which their videos extend. Sometimes, when the planets align, they explore beyond the familiar borders of the terminal emulator into the realm of bizarre diatribes about how western society has fallen, or something.

Praised be the reader who at this point recognizes that the information reported in their videos must come from somewhere. In fact, any observed benefit gleaned from an installation man's videos can simply be obtained by reading the sources they do instead of having it chewed up and regurgitated down your Linux-using gullet. The more honest among them will tell you this themselves: read man pages, read documentation. Read anything, honestly. It would probably do you some good.

Yes, They Are Influencers. Cry Some More.

Linfluencers, if you will...

Don't.

THEY ARE LINFLUENCERS. you CANNOT take this title away (!!!)

Look over there ( ¡¡¡ ) > O.O

In what way are they not? They attempt to form your opinions about software (however incoherent their own may be), sometimes to push sponsorships, other times just to push their own agenda. At the end of the day, they are most certainly attempting to influence you in some way or another and are doing so via posts on social media platforms.
