Do you want to remove a file from your computer, but are afraid of breaking things? Here's a neat trick. Instead of removing it, just append .old to the end of its name! As far as the effects on other software are concerned, doing this will almost definitely be the same as removing the file, with the benefit that you can easily restore it by setting it back to its original name (which is trivial, since you just delete the .old off the end).
